Another Show: 2016 Mid-State Fair

This weekend, Duran Duran announced another show as part of their Paper Gods Tour!  This show is on Wednesday, July 27th in Paso Robles, California, at the 2016 Mid-State Fair.  Here’s how the official press release on describes it:

“PASO ROBLES (CA) – The California Mid-State Fair is pleased to announce that multi-platinum superstars Duran Duran will perform in concert on..July 27 at 7:30pm. CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers will open the show. The concert is part of the annual Bud Light Concert Series and will take place in the Grandstand Arena at the Paso Robles Event Center.

The 2016 California Mid-State Fair runs July 20 through July 31. This year’s theme is “The Adventure Continues…”

Of course, what people probably really want to know is about tickets, including when they go on sale, how much are tickets, etc.

Show announcements are always so exciting to me!  I like to hear that Duran Duran is making more plans and Duranies can make more plans as well!  Yet, it is interesting to me that they are still announcing some shows in the States as it really seemed that all possible shows were already listed.  This makes me wonder if there could be any other shows added to the pretty dang full tour schedule.  Let’s list what we know in order to figure this out.

The North American Tour 1st Leg starts on March 25th.  Could they add dates before that?  I suppose it is possible but it would be cutting it pretty close.  In fact, I can’t remember a time that they announced a show less than 6 weeks before the show happened.  It is a little over 6 weeks now until that first show so I’m doubting that they would add anything before the March 25th show.  The other pattern I have noticed is that they don’t play more than 3 nights in a row.  Maybe, they did at some point but I don’t think they have since the reunion.  With those factors in mind, when could they add other shows in North America?  There are a few dates here and there that they could add more shows but really not many.  The other question is–should they?  I think about the legs of All You Need Is Now Tour in which Simon had those vocal problems or when Nick got sick, both resulting in canceled shows.  Therefore, on one hand, I would worry if they added a lot more.  On the other hand, I like seeing show announcements like this one.  I’m sure that they want to play everywhere for everyone but, realistically, they can’t.

Will they add more shows after this one?  I have no idea.  Obviously, there are a few dates they could.  Will they?  Should they?  I do not have a good answer to that, either.
