This week we are continuing to figure out which song best represents the Astronaut Tour. So far, people have selected the song that best represents the Paper Gods Tour, the All You Need Is Now Tour and the Red Carpet Massacre Tour. Last week, I listed each and every song that the band played on tour in the year 2005 and asked people to choose the song that represents the Astronaut Tour but I promised everyone that people would get a second chance to vote. So, this week, the poll includes just the songs that people voted for in the past week. After that, we can declare we have picked out the song that represents the Astronaut Tour.
It is Saturday! That means that it is time for the question of the week. If you have been following along, the theme of this current set of questions is the song that represents each tour. By the end of the set of questions, I am hoping that we have a song for each tour Duran Duran has ever done. When we started this set, I opted to go from most recent to least. Our results so far are:
Paper Gods Tour – Pressure Off
All You Need Is Now Tour – All You Need Is Now
Red Carpet Massacre – Nite Runner
Now, it is time to vote on a song that best represents the Astronaut Tour. When creating the poll, I looked the songs the band played in 2005 as they played most of the songs then. Now, before I share the poll, I want to warn you that the band played more than 40 different songs in 2005. Will it be hard to choose? Without a doubt. To ease your struggle, pick the song that grabs you first. Then, next week, I’ll do the same question, narrowing to just the songs that were chosen. This way if you change your mind, you have another opportunity to vote. On that note, happy voting!
Last week, for the question of the week, I asked about what song best represents the Red Carpet Massacre Tour. This is part of a larger question, which is to pick a representative song from each tour. So far, fans have chosen Pressure Off for the Paper Gods Tour and All You Need Is Now for the All You Need Is Now Tour. In looking at the results of the question about the Red Carpet Massacre Tour, I noticed that there were a number of songs that the band played that did not receive any votes. Then, there were a lot of songs in which the vote was super close. Because of this, I opted to ask the question again with one major difference. I included only the songs that received votes. Sometimes, I worry that too many choices can be overwhelming. I also wanted to give people a chance to vote if they did not get to last week.
Which Song Best Represents the Red Carpet Massacre Tour?
If you are a consistent reader of this blog, you probably realized that there were no questions of the day on Thursday, Friday and even today. I have been thinking about these questions that I have been doing for years. At times, they have been super popular like when I asked about favorite band members (EEK!). At other times, they have not gotten much of a response. We are in one of those times. I think interest decreased when Rhonda and I took our break in the fall, which is fair. It is easy enough to fall out of the routine of checking and voting. Likewise, social media might have stopped sharing our posts with people at the same level. People might just be busy. They might also not care as much about the question. I get it and I understand.
This has caused me to re-evaluate, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe I need to do them differently. On top of that, I have been doing a lot of thinking about ways that I could give myself more time to breath, to relax, etc. So, after thinking I came to this conclusion. Instead of doing a daily question, I will do a weekly question. The questions will include from ones that focus on the band like I generally do. For instance, right now, we are trying to determine which song best represents the All You Need Is Now Tour. I will also include fun survey questions like which band member would you want to go to a concert with. Just to mix things up a bit!
I hope that everyone is okay with this. More than that, I’m crossing my fingers that people also participate. Speaking of that, I would welcome any ideas that people had for questions to ask. Is there something you always wanted to know about Duran fans or what they think? Throw the question my way!
On that note, let’s finish this question about the song that best represents the All You Need Is Now Tour!
An outspoken examination and celebration of fandom!
