Want the Duran Duran news from this past week: January 12th to January 18th? I will do my best to summarize all of the official news!
War Child Update
Did you hear that Duran Duran is doing a gig in order to benefit War Child, an organization to benefit children who have experienced war? They aren’t the only ones as this year’s lineup of musical artists include Elbow, Bastille and more. Each of these performances will be done in super small venues. Duran, for instance, will be playing at Wilton’s Music Hall in London on February 19th. In order to attend the gigs, people must win the ticket lottery. How does one get a chance? Simple. One must go to the website or text. Each entry costs £4.50 which benefits the organization. All of the information can be found on the press release on duranduran.com.
Mark Ronson is getting a lot of press lately due to the success of his latest work, Uptown Funk. Some of the press includes some references to Duran Duran, including his work on the band’s last album, All You Need Is Now. One example of this is the article in Rolling Stone, which discusses 10 of the songs he worked on over the course of his career.
One reason I have always loved Duran Duran is that they are smart. The members pay attention to the world and try to keep their brains active. An example of this, of course, is that Simon not only reads a great deal, but shares his thoughts about what he has been reading in a section on the official website entitled “Simon’s Reader”. The latest addition is a special one as not only does Simon discuss the book, The Strange Affair of Spring Heeled Jack: Burton and Swinburne, Book 1 by Mark Hodder, but he also discusses the book in an audio format! Fans can hear Simon talk about this book here.
Roger and Electronic Drums
Now, maybe, you are more a fan of Roger than you are of Simon. This week had something for you, too! Music Radar featured an interview with him where he focuses on the use of electronic drums, specifically the Roland TD-30KV Electronic Drums.
One of the Most Anticipated Albums
The website, new.com.au, posted an article recently about the most anticipated albums of 2015. Yes, Duran Duran is listed. (I hope they have the right year! Ha!) The most interestingly thing about the blurb about Duran’s album is the statement about how weird it is that John Frusciante is on the album. I can’t say that I disagree. You can read the article yourself here.
Duranduranmusic.com has a new exclusive interview. This time, it is with producer, Joshua Blair, who has worked with the band since Reportage days (in between Astronaut and Red Carpet Massacre).
I think that is it. Did I cover everything?
