Today’s Duran Duran history takes us all the way back to 1981 when Duran Duran played at Empire in Liverpool. This show happened towards the end of their Careless Memories tour, which took place in the UK.
I, for one, would really like a time machine to travel back and see the dates from this tour! Was anyone lucky enough to see any of them? If so, please share! How were they?!
Duran Duran History for today, December 15th goes all the way back to this date in 1981, when Duran Duran played at the Arts Center in Poole, UK. Were you there? This date was included on their Careless Memories tour….just before many of us in other parts of the world (myself included) had ever heard of the band…
On another note, on this date in 2010, Duran Duran’s video for All You Need is Now debuted on Sky News. I could go for a little video about now on this Monday morning. Shall we?? -R
Today’s Duran Duran history takes us back 33 years to 1981. On this date, Duran Duran played at the Gaumont in Southampton, UK. This was the opening date in their Careless Memories Tour, which took them all around the UK. To put this tour and this tour date in historical context, by this point, Duran Duran had released their first album and had, in fact, just released their fourth single. Does anyone know what their fourth single was?! It was My Own Way! Clearly, the band was moving forward towards the release of their second album, Rio.
This week, in the continuing series about Duran tour participation, I am asking about the Careless Memories Tour. This tour took place between November 29 and December 23, 1981 in the UK. As always, I refer you to the band’s official website for all the specific dates and locations, which you can see here.
