Today in Duran History – Orlando 2005

On this date in 2005, Duran Duran played at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.  This show was part of the second set of shows in the US for the Astronaut Tour.  It was also significant in that they played with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and included some real Duran gems, like Tel Aviv (which I would love, love, love to see at a show!).

The set list for this particular show was:

FRIENDS OF MINE
NICE
UNION OF THE SNAKE
NEW RELIGION
TEL AVIV
WHAT HAPPENS TOMORROW
COME UNDONE
CHAINS
CHAUFFEUR
STILL BREATHING
ORDINARY WORLD
SAVE A PRAYER
FINEST HOUR
PLANET EARTH
SUNRISE
NOTORIOUS
CARELESS MEMORIES
WILD BOYS

THAT FATAL KISS
VIEW TO A KILL
RIO

Here is a clip of the show that I could find on YouTube:

Were you there?  How was the show???  How was it with the orchestra?

  1. I went to this show by myself. Flew from Louisville, KY to Orlando specifically for the show since it was a one-off with the orchestra.

Tel Aviv live…O.M.G.!!!!!! This was also the one and only time that they performed the full version of Still Breathing.

    It was a phenomonal show.

  2. Amanda – I’ve seen a YouTube video of it floating around on the internet before, but it was only a small clip. I have no idea if it’s still out there. That song was everything you could imagine live…and MORE!!!

They also used the orchestra for That Fatal Kiss as the into to A View To A Kill which was pretty spectacular as well.

    1. I do remember seeing a clip of Tel Aviv somewhere, at some point, but I can imagine that actually being there would be one of those out-of-the-world Duran moments. *sigh* -A

  3. Years later they had the Unstaged live show with the amazing David Lynch directing, they’re able to make big gems live like this 2005 concert was.
I want to be positive and dreaming/thinking the guys and Dom will play with an Orchestra again some time soon.
