Today in Duran History – St. Petersburg

On today’s date in 2009, Duran Duran played Ledovy Dvorets in St. Petersburg, Russia.  This is one of the saddest shows I’ve ever seen video from, because it is very clearly POURING rain, the audience is covered in umbrellas, and the band looks like they’re freezing too.

And as a bonus…we found video of John and Nick in St. Petersburg too, a couple of days prior to the show….on a “family outing”.

The set list:

A View to a Kill
Hungry Like the Wolf
The Reflex
Come Undone
Nite Runner
I Don’t Want Your Love
Save a Prayer
Red Carpet Massacre
Planet Earth
The Chauffeur
Ordinary World
Is The Something I Should Know?
Girls on Film
(Reach Up for the) Sunrise
The Wild Boys

  1. Thanks for sharing!
On that year I’ve been to St. Petersbourgh as a tourist: I was there in late April, just one month before their show
I can remember the city covered of their posters on the main walls of the buildings on the main streets, also near our hotel.
I also took a pic to one of those tour announcements.
The Russian guys I could meet with and could speak to sounded really excited about the tour and they seemed to love the 80s in general.
    The set list was amazing.
The DD guys look freezing, but one month before while I was visiting the town, the locals said it was hot for the period of the year.
    Climate crisis: duh?
