Question of the Week: What Song Represents the 1981 Tours?

Did you know that Duran Duran played a number of different tours in 1981? According to the official tour timeline on the band’s official website, they started off with the First UK Tour from February to March. Then, there was the Faster Than Light Tour from June to July. The First European Shows were in September. The First North American Shows finished up September through some of October. The First German Shows were October to November. Finally, the Careless Memories Tour were in November and December. Instead of trying to separate the setlists for each of those tours, I’m putting them all together for our question of the week. As you know, we have been trying to pick out a song to represent each tour. We started with Paper Gods and have moved backwards to 1981. Here are the results so far:

  • Paper Gods Tour – Pressure Off
  • All You Need Is Now Tour – All You Need Is Now
  • Red Carpet Massacre Tour – Night Runner
  • Astronaut Tour – Sunrise
  • Pop Trash Tour – Hallucinating Elvis
  • Ultra Chrome Latex and Steel Tour – Electric Barbarella
  • Thank You Promo Tour – White Lines
  • No Ordinary Tour – Too Much Information
  • Big Live Thing Tour – I Don’t Want Your Love
  • Strange Behaviour Tour – Skin Trade
  • Sing Blue Silver Tour – The Reflex
  • Rio Tour – Rio

On that note, here is the poll about the 1981 tours. As always, I have listed the played in order of frequency. Which song best represents 1981?

-A

By Daily Duranie

Once upon a time, there were two Duran Duran fans. One named Amanda, the other named Rhonda. Over many vodka tonics, they would laugh about the idea of one day writing a book about their fan experiences. While that manuscript is still being composed...Rhonda thought they should write a blog. (What was she THINKING?!) Lo and behold: The Daily Duranie was born.
