With a Home Tattoo

Do you ever get the feeling that the internet or something is stalking you? I have a friend who has recently been talking about how she has started to see advertisements for lawn care products immediately following working on her lawn. She claims that she has not even been looking at products involving lawn care or talking about it whatsoever online. When she told me that, I laughed her off. Now, I am not so sure. Remember last week when I wrote about a buzzfeed quiz asking Duran Duran fans if they were “obsessed”? Well, another one popped up in my world. That would not necessarily make me think that my paranoid friend was on to something until the new one had to do with creating a mansion, your dream home and how that creation would give you the Duran member to spend the quarantine. Does the internet know that I’ve been watching a lot of HGTV? Normally, I have the news on in the background but since the pandemic started, I have to limit my time with the news. Watching people fix up houses to create dream homes is easier to handle, emotionally. Psychologically.

Anyway, this quiz, which you can take here, involves you picking your favorite living room, kitchen, bedroom, etc. until each space of your mansion is chosen. I saw that a number of people took the quiz as did I and interestingly enough, all of the ones I saw all had Nick Rhodes as the winner. This, of course, got me thinking. Was he the only choice? What would it take to get one of the other band members? Did anyone get a different result? I am tempted to keep taking it over and over again to see. It isn’t that I have anything against Nick. I just would not think our styles would match. *Shrugs*

That said, I have to say that I enjoyed the quiz. Maybe it is because I have been watching a lot of HGTV and wishing that I could fix up my condo to have some fancy features shown in these photos. Perhaps, I also appreciated the less than serious aspect of a quiz like this, which is true of last week’s as well. It is just for fun and short distraction, which I need. (Too often my distractions become hours long, which is probably why my grading for the week is not done!) I have to say that I liked this quiz better than the obsessed one. One comment received said it well by saying that the obsessed quiz felt like a “I’m a bigger, better fan than you” type of quiz. I have to agree. It wouldn’t just separate out the amount of love people have for the band but also how they express it as well as the amount of time and money they can spend on the band. This one, on the other hand, has no competition to it. It is designed to just match one’s style to the band’s style. There is no harm in that.

On that note, does anyone have other similar quizzes or activities that people might do? I wonder if there isn’t a way for us to organize them (if there are many so that people can find them easily). Hmm…what do you all think?

Once upon a time, there were two Duran Duran fans. One named Amanda, the other named Rhonda. Over many vodka tonics, they would laugh about the idea of one day writing a book about their fan experiences. While that manuscript is still being composed...Rhonda thought they should write a blog. (What was she THINKING?!) Lo and behold: The Daily Duranie was born.

    1. Since I posted this blog post, more and more people have told me that they got people other than Nick. I still have to wonder what houses matched with which band member. -A

  1. I also got Nick. In several cases I just randomly picked a room since either all or none appealed to me. The second time I got Roger. One of the activities I am considering doing is making doll houses out of cardboard houses. I used to make these as a kid for my Barbies but was watching a tutorial on making dollhouses on YouTube and it seems like it would be fun plus the dollhouses looked like they were bought. The only problem though is what I would do with them once I built a few?

I play games online like Word Wipe (Me Tv has a section called games) and offline I do logic puzzles (no idea if there are any online). I’m also playing language games on Duolingo in both Spanish (which I speak/write/read already but haven’t used in years so am improving to get back to the level I was) and French (which I know somewhat having taken it in college). I know people learning other languages on Duolingo but not sure if I want to learn a new language completely or just improve ones I already know

    1. I love hearing about what other people do with their time. I am having my students keep a journal during their time at home and I’m enjoying hearing about all their hobbies that they are starting or turning back to. -A

  2. I took the quiz and got John.I suspect that if I’d went with that closet for an extra room I would have gotten Nick-yeah he’s my favorite but I’ll never own that many clothes.I’n not disappointed:)

  3. I got Nick and I never thought my taste would match Nick…. that was my second time taking it, my first time, I got Warren !!!!!
