You Never Looked So Good

Today is a big day for the Durandemonium committee, as it is the day we announce the winner of the T-shirt design contest!! Just to recap, the winner of this big contest will in fact have their beautiful artwork printed on the exclusive “convention pre-order only” t-shirts, along with all the bragging rights therein. Additionally, this winner will win a super-exclusive, one-of-kind original postcard-sized art quilt designed by the artist Linda Pustz (who just happens to be Amanda’s mom). Amanda’s mom will take a Duran Duran song and do an interpretation of that song in quilted art. You have to see it to believe it – I own several pieces of her work and I’ve got to say, they are stunning. I know she’s already hard at work on some designs for this convention!

We received many designs, and all of the work was beautiful. We thank each and every participant that choose to share their creativity with us. There were a few designs that simply stood out to us, and among those, one in particular bowled us over. The best news is that our choice is unanimous, and we didn’t even have to have my four year-old be the tie-breaking vote!

Congratulations to Sally Han, who sent in this gorgeous design, which combines the celebratory nature of the weekend along with symbolism of the music we love, capped with a perfect silhouette of the Chicago skyline! We love it and can’t wait to see it on our shirts!!

Just as a reminder, tickets are still available for the convention – you can go to our website: http://durandemonium2013.webs.com for information, or if you’re looking for a link to buy tickets: http://durandemonium2013.eventbrite.com. October is still months away, make plans to join us! Friday night clubbing, Saturday Diamond in the Mind screening, a banquet, more clubbing…food, friendship, cocktails in a fabulous city, what more could you pack into a weekend?? See you there!

Lastly, I wanted to make sure everyone is aware that a meet-up is planned before Roger’s DJ gig in Chicago on April 25th. We are going to meet for pre-gig provisions (i.e. food and drink)  and festivities at Hop Haus in Chicago. This restaurant has everything from pizza and burgers to salads, as well as cocktails, and it is literally steps away from Spy Bar. If you’re interested and would like information, check out the event page that Duran Duran has set up for Roger’s gig  – you should find a post there regarding the meet-up. Amanda and I will be there and we have a few now “limited edition” (they really are limited at this point – we’re almost out!) Daily Duranie wristbands left for those who want one. Come to the meet-up and find us, and we’ll give you a wristband! Any questions? Email us!

Once upon a time, there were two Duran Duran fans. One named Amanda, the other named Rhonda. Over many vodka tonics, they would laugh about the idea of one day writing a book about their fan experiences. While that manuscript is still being composed...Rhonda thought they should write a blog. (What was she THINKING?!) Lo and behold: The Daily Duranie was born.
