Duran Duran History: Roanoke 1984

Thirty-one years ago, in 1984, Duran Duran played at the Roanoke Coliseum in Roanoke, Virginia.  This show was part of their famous Sing Blue Silver tour.

Here’s a clip of Girls on Film that was included on the band’s As the Lights Go Down concert live.  It is not from Roanoke, but it is from the same tour.

Once upon a time, there were two Duran Duran fans. One named Amanda, the other named Rhonda. Over many vodka tonics, they would laugh about the idea of one day writing a book about their fan experiences. While that manuscript is still being composed...Rhonda thought they should write a blog. (What was she THINKING?!) Lo and behold: The Daily Duranie was born.

  1. It’s also the 31st anniversary this month of the Greensboro, NC show that was my first time seeing the band. I was a college freshman back then. Wow I’m getting old.

  2. I was at the Roanoke show! My very first DD concert. A transcendent experience that changed my life and cemented my status as a lifelong Duranie. (I also attended the Greensboro, NC show .) Oh for cellphones and camcorders back then, so there would be actual footage from those shows!

  3. It was my first DD concert as well. Still have my concert T shirt and program. I was also lucky enough to see them in Greensboro a few weeks later. 31 years! Wow!
