Memorabilia Medley: Duran Related Items

My Duran Duran memorabilia is displayed proudly in my home office. As many of you know, I have album covers and posters on the wall and book shelves filled with other items that I have purchased or been given as gifts. Each of these items make me smile. As I thought about what to write about today when it comes to Duran memorabilia, I started to look around this office. What should I focus on? What could I blog about? A quick glance around revealed a number of items that were not official items. No, I have a lot of objects that, on the surface, do not even look like they are connected to Duran Duran at all. Take this guy, for example.

This is obviously a little stuffed animal (planet?) of sorts of our planet, Earth. It was purchased at a museum that Rhonda and I visited in Toronto in the summer of 2016 while on tour. I cannot remember much about our visit to that museum besides buying this. It was part of a display with all of the planets of our solar system. I could have bought a saturn or a mars, for instance. Of course, I never considered any of those other planets. No, I had to have a little Planet Earth to call my own. It is my favorite Duran Duran song, after all. Every time I look it, I think about the song. It makes my heart happy. On top of that, it is super cute!

This little Planet Earth is not my only non-official Duran item around my fandom office. I have some astronauts as well. One of them is a stuffed bear from the Museum of Science and Industry, purchased in Chicago in 2006. Another one is a blow up astronaut that was featured as the center piece at the dinner/dance during the 2004 Duran Duran Fans Convention in New Orleans. Both of these purchases bookended the Astronaut era. I have leopards and tigers, too.

Here is what I would like to know. Am I the only one who has items that remind you of Duran Duran and your fandom but are not official Duran Duran merchandise or memorabilia? If I am not, what do you have that makes your Duranie heart happy? What is the story behind your Duran related item(s)?

By Daily Duranie

Once upon a time, there were two Duran Duran fans. One named Amanda, the other named Rhonda. Over many vodka tonics, they would laugh about the idea of one day writing a book about their fan experiences. While that manuscript is still being composed...Rhonda thought they should write a blog. (What was she THINKING?!) Lo and behold: The Daily Duranie was born.
