Today in Duran History – Another Show Rhonda Missed in LA

On today’s date in 1987, Duran Duran played the Great Western Forum in Los Angeles, California.  As the title of this post might suggest to some…it was yet another show that I missed.  I was in the middle of the summer before my senior year of high school at the time, and to be honest, I don’t even remember the show happening.  But…since I’m on “vacation” (let’s face it: I’m camping with my kids. There’s no rest involved in that, but we can pretend) right now in Northern California, I decided to let my “special” brand of sarcasm fly.  You’re welcome.

The closest thing I could find to a clip from the show was this post-show “party” clip of Skin Trade at what I believe is the Lhasa Club, also in Los Angeles. My question is simple: is it really a party when you have to provide your own darn entertainment…AFTER the show in which you just performed?!? Then again, perhaps this was a paid gig, which seems to be the case as I peruse the show archive list on duranduran.com. And we wonder why they might be tired?!?

By Daily Duranie

Once upon a time, there were two Duran Duran fans. One named Amanda, the other named Rhonda. Over many vodka tonics, they would laugh about the idea of one day writing a book about their fan experiences. While that manuscript is still being composed...Rhonda thought they should write a blog. (What was she THINKING?!) Lo and behold: The Daily Duranie was born.
