National Album Day!

The other day I told Rhonda that I had something in my calendar about a Duran Duran re-issue. I had no clue what it was and she did not remember anything either. Was this an example of a senior moment? After all, we are not getting any younger. Could be an example of a campaign brain in which I’m so overloaded that I am completely losing it? I started to wonder if it was a situation in which I had put in my calendar after dreaming it. After all, I didn’t hear anything about it until I saw this picture yesterday.

This, of course, was posted on Duran Duran’s social media along with a link: nationalalbumday.co.uk. Looking at this website, it looks a lot like Record Store Day. That’s cool! I’m all for that! I thought it was particularly interesting that the records chosen were to “provide escapism” and “lift your mood”. Well, then! That’s even better!

Now, of course, my next question is…will the Duran re-issue (white vinyl!) be available here in the States! I did a quick search on Amazon and looks like I could order it that way, if nothing else. So, the question becomes…do I need another vinyl copy of the band’s first album? Need might be the wrong verb. I don’t need it. That said, I like supporting vinyl and it is in white.

What do the rest of you think? Worth it? Are you planning on buying it?

By Daily Duranie

Once upon a time, there were two Duran Duran fans. One named Amanda, the other named Rhonda. Over many vodka tonics, they would laugh about the idea of one day writing a book about their fan experiences. While that manuscript is still being composed...Rhonda thought they should write a blog. (What was she THINKING?!) Lo and behold: The Daily Duranie was born.

  1. Is the only thing that’s new about this re-issue that the vinyl is white? Or are there some other extra’s as well? I see there are two discs in the sleeve, so maybe some extra songs?
If the whiteness is the only difference, it would be a stretch for me to buy it, however much I like the first album.
