Random Fandom: Music & Lyrics

I saw this meme today…

For whatever reason, it rang true. Up until recently, I was on a music stretch – I would listen to the music and not think too hard about what was being communicated. I let the music – the instrumentation alone – shape my thoughts and feelings. I have to admit though, in my darker, moodier, and even sad moments – I am the first to sit myself down and (sometimes) wallow amongst a good set of lyrics.

I don’t really know why that is, except that maybe sometimes I’m feeling a little superficial, and I don’t want to think too hard. I just want to lose myself in a good song. Other times, I want to think over the meaning (and subtext) of every single word. It doesn’t seem like too big of a surprise, at least to me, that much of it has to do with my mood at the time. When I’m feeling sad, I get ALLLL the feels from the words.

What about you?

Once upon a time, there were two Duran Duran fans. One named Amanda, the other named Rhonda. Over many vodka tonics, they would laugh about the idea of one day writing a book about their fan experiences. While that manuscript is still being composed...Rhonda thought they should write a blog. (What was she THINKING?!) Lo and behold: The Daily Duranie was born.
