February 2022 Fan of the Month

Here is our February Fan of the Month! Here’s Vixie!

When did you become a fan?

I became a casual fan in the 80’s. Was more of a Wham! Fan back in the day. Started following the band more seriously in 1989 and has been ongoing since then. 

Why did you become a fan?

I went through some times and their music was always there for me.

What drew you to the band?

Their looks, music and fashion!

How do you participate in the fandom?

I am the only licensed “duranie” in the state of NY.

I have a huge poster and memorabilia collection. I have been to 30 some Duran Duran concerts and attend fan meet ups. I was DJ Vixie at the Duran Duran universe in second life.

What do you like best about being in the Duran fan community?

The life long friendships!

Do you have a favorite concert experience?

The Ritz at Webster Hall. I met my 2 best friends there at the vip party.

Do you have a favorite fandom experience?

Meeting nick in an elevator at Casino Niagara. It was just so random and Nick was awesome.

Once upon a time, there were two Duran Duran fans. One named Amanda, the other named Rhonda. Over many vodka tonics, they would laugh about the idea of one day writing a book about their fan experiences. While that manuscript is still being composed...Rhonda thought they should write a blog. (What was she THINKING?!) Lo and behold: The Daily Duranie was born.

  1. This is awesome Vixie ! It was nice finding out how you became a DD fan and I love that you are the only license Duranie in NY…. I think I will be the only one in Ontario, Canada (if I can get my plate one day, lol).
