The New Year is upon us. I trust that those reading are in good health and spirits, and that sooner rather than later, we will be rejoicing together. Along with the other hopes of safety, good health, and healing, let’s hope for pure, unadulterated joy for 2021, or as other people call them: CONCERTS. In the meantime, let’s get down to it:

December 27

  • As the Lights Go Down premiered (1984)
  • Simon and Yasmin were married (1985) Happy Anniversary!!

December 28

  • That famous Pop Quiz episode between Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet aired (1984)
  • Top of the Pops aired a lip-synched performance of “Is There Something I Should Know” (1989)
  • Maximum Duran Duran was released (2004)

December 29

  • Simon and Nick appeared on the Today Show (2010)
  • Performed at Moon Palace in Cancun (2016)

December 30

  • BBC Rock Hour featured “The Reflex” (1984)
  • John Taylor reported on AOL (remember America Online??) that the record company was holding up the release of Thank You due to “Lay Lady Lay” (1994)
  • Performed at the Chelsea Theater, Cosmopolitan hotel, Las Vegas 2017

December 31

  • Played at MTV’s New Years Eve Ball, NYC (1982)
  • Performed on Carson Daly’s New Years Eve Special (1984)
  • John and Simon joined Frankie Goes to Hollywood onstage at MTV’s NYE Ball (1984)
  • Played at Theatre at MGM National Harbor, Oxon Hill MD (2016)

January 1

  • Album Music for the 3rd Millennium Vol. 2 released – includes instrumental of Medazzaland by Nick Rhodes (2001)
  • Performed at Theatre at MGM National Harbor, Oxon Hill MD (2017)

January 2

  • Simon’s boat, Drum, reached Auckland NZ in the Whitbread Race (1986)
  • Played Target Center in Minneapolis (1994)

Over many vodka tonics, they would laugh about the idea of one day writing a book about their fan experiences. While that manuscript is still being composed...Rhonda thought they should write a blog.
