I know the title is strange. What do doormats have to do with being a fan or having a piece of memorabilia? It isn’t like I have ever seen a Duran Duran doormat. (Although, it would not surprise me to find out that someone somewhere has one.) It isn’t just something I thought much about. I live in a condo but it is a unit within a building, much like an apartment. I do have neighbors who have one outside their door but I never have. Yes, I do understand the purpose of wiping one’s feet, especially here in the upper Midwest but there are rugs to wipe my feet when I enter the building. That said, there is one type of doormat that might force me to change my mind.
What if I could have a doormat made from a Duran Duran concert ticket?! That would be pretty sweet, wouldn’t it? Then, I would be glad that there are other places to wipe my feet as I wouldn’t really want to get this one dirty, right?! So website like this one do custom made doormats. It looks to be a pretty simple process. You scan your ticket and select your size. I’m glad that it is done that way as I would never want to send an actual ticket anywhere. I would be way too worried of never getting it back. (Yes, I keep my concert tickets. Yes, I keep all of them. Yes, I keep all of my Duran tickets and all of them that aren’t Duran. I have ticket albums. They are neat.)
So the next question that would arise from this piece of fun would be what concert would I want to showcase? Would I want to show my first Duran concert? (For the record, I had the world’s worst spot for that show in almost the last row.) What about the Birmingham show in 2011? Seeing the band play in their hometown was definitely like having a dream come true. Another possibility might be the first time I had front row. (Although would front row at a general admission show count?) So maybe it should be the show with front and center seats. I don’t know. Here’s another idea. What about the first show I saw with Rhonda? That one started the touring experience, after all. Clearly, I cannot decide. Maybe Rhonda has some ideas. Maybe I will see what she thinks for a Vodka Friday. That could be fun, right?
What about the rest of you? Would you get something like this? If so, which ticket would you use and why?

Love this! If I was to do it I’d pick my first concert at the Mandalay Bay in Vegas. You never forget your first, even if a certain Controller, and my favorite was missing in action. But I still had a great time, and learned that I could live this band even more than I’d thought.
I like your thinking! The first concert is a special one. 🙂 -A
