You know it’s a rough week when you’re already a day behind and it’s just Monday. Without further delay, here is your week in Duran Duran history for October 18-24!

October 18
  • Big Thing released (1988…where does the time go???)
  • Durandemonium began on this date in Chicago (2013). For those who are unaware – this was the fan convention organized by a terrific group of volunteers along with Amanda and I. Seven years already, really?
October 19
  • Duran Duran performed on Ellen DeGeneres Show – they played “Sunrise” and “Hungry Like the Wolf”. (2004)
October 20
  • The movie, Barbarella was aired on BBC1. This airing led John and Nick to name their band, Duran Duran. (1978)
  • Notorious, the single was released. (1986)
  • Played in the Capitol Records parking lot in LA (1988)
October 21
  • Medazzaland peaked at #58 in the US. (1997)
October 22
  • Played at the Holy City Zoo in Birmingham. (1980)
  • Filmed video for What Happens Tomorrow (2004)
  • Durancon held in South Melbourne (2011)
October 23
  • Video for “Notorious” premiered. (1986)
October 24
  • Received MTV EMA in Milan. (2015)

Once upon a time, there were two Duran Duran fans. One named Amanda, the other named Rhonda. Over many vodka tonics, they would laugh about the idea of one day writing a book about their fan experiences. While that manuscript is still being composed...Rhonda thought they should write a blog.
