Touch the Sunrise

Over the weekend, Duran Duran decided to have a little fun with fans. The image below was posted on social media.

Nothing like a weekend teaser….

This naturally set off discussions all over the internet. “What is Touch the Sunrise?!” Ideas encompassing everything from the release of Reportage, to the announcement of a new album, were thrown into the mix.

Duran Duran fans did not have to wait long before getting the answer. Yesterday, the band announced Touch the Sunrise, a festival organized in tandem with Ibiza Opening, to be held in – yes, Ibiza – in 2021.

Copied/pasted from Duran Duran’s Facebook page:

“We’re thrilled to announce we’re partnering with the Ibiza Opening for ‘Duran Duran presents Touch The Sunrise’ in Ibiza in May 2021! We have all been working hard on this and can finally reveal that we’re inviting 4,000 of the band’s biggest fans to Ibiza to celebrate 40 years of Duran Duran. Join us for three days and nights of dancing in the Ibizan sun, DJ sets, outdoor screenings and a closing headline show to remember.

Prices start from £399 with accommodation included and you can secure your spot for just £30 and pay the rest monthly. If for any reason the trip gets cancelled due to Covid-19, we’ll postpone to alternative dates and If anyone is unable to attend these dates they’ll receive a full refund.”

I’m sure many reading are wondering what we (Daily Duranie) make of such an announcement. We report our opinions, make our statements, and laugh over cocktails, unabashedly. This is something that we’ve done since the beginnings of Daily Duranie, and will continue, rest assured.

Keep watching this space!

Once upon a time, there were two Duran Duran fans. One named Amanda, the other named Rhonda. Over many vodka tonics, they would laugh about the idea of one day writing a book about their fan experiences. While that manuscript is still being composed...Rhonda thought they should write a blog. (What was she THINKING?!) Lo and behold: The Daily Duranie was born.

  1. Fans were saying the Ibiza location seems to imply a collab with Andy as he lives there. I hope there’s some truth to that, and with it the release of Reportage. Is it just wishful thinking? For the 40th anniv? Pretty please? 🙂

    1. Unfortunately, no, there is no collaboration happening with Andy Taylor. Lori Majewski interviewed Andy today on her radio show and he said that there was no plan for that. -A
