September 2020 Poll Wrap-up!

It occurred to me that perhaps not everyone goes back to see who actually won a particular poll, and I thought it’d be fun to look back and see who or what reigned supreme each week! As of today, this is what the results look like!

Remember when we asked who you might want as your high school chemistry teacher? Dare to dream, right? Well – in what I would characterize as “Not Even Remotely Surprising”, Nick Rhodes was the runaway winner, followed by Simon, Roger, and John – bringing up the rear.

Curiously, I’m wondering why John wasn’t closer to the top. Any thoughts?

What if you were a producer and needed to re-record just one Duran Duran song. Which would you choose? Falling Down was the song most thought to need a refresher, with 42% of you voting to start over with that track. The Reflex and Serious were tied for second, and, proving that my favorite song is indeed perfect as-is (I’m being silly, so don’t send me hate mail!) Is There Something I Should Know only received 12% of the vote.

How do you listen to Whooosh!? 56% say they listen to the whole thing, chatting, music and all. 24% prefer to skip Spotify and just wait for it to come out on YouTube. Of those who like only listening to part of the program, 12% listen to the banter between songs, and 8% prefer to only hear the music!

One of my favorite polls of the month – I asked how you all felt about those Instagram comments. Do they bug you as they do me, or do you like seeing them scroll up the screen as you’re watching? 47% of those who answered say that like me, they don’t like them. They’re distracting, and it’s great for John (or whomever) to turn them off the entire time! 43% say that they only want them on part of the time. For example, if John were doing a Q&A, he’d tell everyone that he’ll turn on comments for a specific amount of time near the end of his IG live time.

I thought it was very interesting that no one voted saying that they liked the comments.

Last, but not least, we asked fans what their favorite pandemic activity has been so far. In hindsight, I realize I left out a couple of things, like the puzzles DDHQ posts occasionally. Alas…

A whopping 49% of those who answered said that they love John’s Bass Tutorials best. Shame that he’s stopped doing them, because so many fans seemed to appreciate the insight. Whooosh! came in second with 26%, and then John’s IG Q&A’s came in next at 24%.

Curiously, Roger’s Desert Island Picks did not do well. Any ideas as to why? What could make those more engaging for fans?

Meanwhile, I’m working on new poll ideas for November. If you have any ideas – let me know! Anything from serious to silly and any topic in-between is perfect!

Once upon a time, there were two Duran Duran fans. One named Amanda, the other named Rhonda. Over many vodka tonics, they would laugh about the idea of one day writing a book about their fan experiences. While that manuscript is still being composed...Rhonda thought they should write a blog. (What was she THINKING?!) Lo and behold: The Daily Duranie was born.
